SDI choose to partner with Schenk Vision

Steel Dynamics Inc. (SDI) has awarded Schenk Vision an order for the supply of a complete SURFACE INSPECTION AND SURFACE ANALYSIS SYSTEM for four new production lines including a new GALVANIZING LINE and a new PAINT LINE for both its Sinton location in the state of Texas and Heartland location in the state of Indiana.

The multi-channel inspection systems (including Virtual 3D and Side-Lighting) will be provided with: 

• AI-based software suite including MIDA-X for enhanced defect detection and classification 
• Strip width measurement and reporting 
• High-level surface quality analysis and quantification for conditions such as roughness, clarity, coating and paint uniformity 
• Automatic, real-time coil grading 
• Industry 4.0 compliance 

In addition to the Automated Vision Inspection Equipment, Schenk Vision received orders for the design and fabrication of the vision system support frames, project management and technical support throughout startup and commissioning, as well as a two year customer support agreement.
